Raising the Curtain
The performance programme for 2020 / 2021 addresses the question of the “new normal”. That begins with “The Trial” (Der Prozess) by Franz Kafka, which, in an era of increasingly controlled and transparent systems of power, continues to question the self-determination and personal sovereignty of the individual. This year’s play for children, The Bear Who Wasn't There (Der Bär, der nicht da war) by Oren Lavie, is a poetic journey of discovery on personal identity. With “COVID-21”, the theatre is providing a musical vaccine to mobilise the immune system for the “new normal”. The play Men Alone in the Forest (Männer allein im Wald) by Susanne Zaun addresses different forms of life threatened with extinction.
