Raising the Curtain
The former moated castle, the Haus Opherdicke, is situated to the north, and above the Ruhr valley. With its buildings that date from the 17th to the 19th century and an extensive sculpture park, the listed mansion is now regarded as an excellent example of the balance between respect for history, the imperatives of responsible environmental protection, and the aspirations of a place of culture and encounters which has a profile beyond its home region. A very varied programme of musical events and year-round exhibitions on themes that range from classical modernism to contemporary art characterise the cultural profile of the Haus Opherdicke.
We also recommend a bicycle tour on the nearby Route der Industriekultur (Industrial Heritage Trail).
50% discount on all price groups in the “WeltMusik MusikWelt” series and chamber music with each RUHR.TOPCARD. The discount does not apply to running exhibitions.
