LWL-Museum für Archäologie Westfälisches Landesmuseum
Treasures and Museums
Anything but superficial! As if on an archaeological dig, visitors walk along a footbridge through the artificial landscape of the dig, and get to see archaeological finds from the history of mankind – from the oldest of stone tools of Neanderthal man, to the cutlery and crockery of Roman times, through to the rubble of the Second World War. Learn about interesting things from 280,000 years of history with all of your senses. Use your smartphone to encounter the “ghosts of the past” at an augmented reality installation.
We also recommend making a detour to the Wasserschloss Strünkede (Strünkede Water Castle) - one of the most beautiful castles in the Ruhr Valley.
