LVR-Industriemuseum St. Antony-Hütte
Discover Industrial Culture
An idyllically situated half-timbered building by the Elpenbach pond in Oberhausen – not the kind of place where you would expect to find heavy industry. And yet you’re standing in front of the first ironworks in the Ruhr district – the St.-Antony-Hütte. LVR Museum of Industry presents the exciting history of the St.-Antony-Hütte's in the former director's residence, where you can learn all about the beginnings of the iron and steel industry in the year 1758. Directly opposite – at the St.-Antony-Hütte excavation site – you can discover the first industrial archaeological park in Germany, which brings the once thriving ironworks back to life.
