LVR-Industriemuseum Kraftwerk Ermen & Engels
Discover Industrial Culture
This is where you’re certain to see the light! After all, everything here revolves around electricity. The former Ermen & Engels cotton mill, founded by Friedrich Engels – the father of the famous companion of Karl Marx – was electrified in 1903. An exciting heritage trail provides you with a vivid impression of how the power of the river Agger was harnessed to generate electricity. Experience the impressive hydroelectric power station with its mighty turbines and the historic control panel that supplied the factory and the town of Engelskirchen with energy. A new permanent exhibition area addresses the history of the factory and Friedrich Engels Junior.
