Raising the Curtain
The gardens of the Haus Opherdicke that provide the backdrop to the historic buildings, which date from the 17th - 19th centuries and are listed as a historic monument, are home to an extensive sculpture park. The estate is situated to the north of the Ruhr valley. Nowadays, the house is considered an example of the balance between respecting history, the necessity to conserve the environment, and the aspirations of a cultural venue and meeting place which is known beyond the local region. The events that take place here are characterised by a multi-faceted programme of musical events and exhibitions throughout the year on topics that range from classical modernism to contemporary art.
We also recommend a bicycle tour on the nearby Route der Industriekultur (Industrial Heritage Trail).
50% discount on all price groups in the “WeltMusik MusikWelt” series and chamber music with each RUHR.TOPCARD. The discount does not apply to running exhibitions.
