Deutsches Bergbau-Museum Bochum
Discover Industrial Culture
This is where the formation, extraction, mining and processing of mineral resources all become understandable. As one of eight Leibniz research museums, the German Museum Bochum gives you the opportunity to discover the many different sides to mining. Exciting discoveries await you at the four areas of the permanent exhibition, which was launched in 2019, which cover the topics of coal, mining, mineral resources and art. Models and original machines, some of which you can even set in motion yourself, as well as the demonstration mine and shaft elevator simulator, which give you a realistic picture of mining, are part of the informative offering above and below ground. A trip to the pithead frame beckons after your visit.
Combine a visit to the Bergbau-Museum Bochum with a detour to Zeche Hannover (Hannover Colliery) and Zeche Knirps (Knirps Colliery).
One free entry to the museum, incl. permanent exhibition, demonstration mine and trip up the tower.
Please check all up-to-date information on the current situation before your visit to the Bergbau Museum.
